WRC’s Winter Classic

Since 1950, Rally Sweden is the only WRC event on snow and ice. Moved to Umeå in 2022 for better winter conditions, drivers rely on snowbanks to corner but risk getting stuck when temperatures rise. Studded tires provide grip, but handling is tricky, and exposed gravel can damage the studs. Freezing temperatures, often as low as below -25°C, make routine maintenance challenging for mechanics.
