History

A Leading Innovator in Motorsports

Motorsport is about confronting various and unpredictable driving conditions.
Since 1992, Hankook Tire has supplied tires to motorsport competitions both domestically and internationally, accumulating detailed data that cannot be obtained from testing facilities. This data has been incorporated into the development of ultra-high performance tires. Hankook Tire Motorsport strives to advance innovative technology and continuously overcome challenges.

FIA Three Star Environmental Accreditation

Hankook has been awarded the prestigious ‘FIA Three-Star Environmental Accreditation’ by the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA), the highest level of recognition for environmental management and sustainability. The FIA Environmental Accreditation program is designed to encourage environmental stewardship and sustainable practices within motorsports and the broader mobility sector. Hankook received this recognition for its proactive efforts in sustainability, particularly its contributions to climate change initiatives, including its role as the exclusive tire supplier and official sponsor of Formula E.

  • Commenced as the official and exclusive tire supplier to the FIA World Rally Championship(WRC), one of the three major motorsport competitions organized by the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile(FIA).

2024

  • Achieved the highest level of environmental and sustainability certification, the '3-Star Environmental Accreditation' granted by FIA.

2023

  • Commenced as the official tire sponsor of the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Series worldwide.

2022

  • Commenced as the official and exclusive supplier of GEN3 electric car tires for the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship(Formula E).

2021

  • Commenced as the official and exclusive tire supplier for the Super Taikyu Series.

2019

  • Commenced as the official and exclusive tire supplier for the Formula Regional Americas and Formula 4 (F4) U.S. Championship.
  • Commenced as the official and exclusive tire supplier for the W Series, supporting female drivers and teams.

2018

  • Signed a global supply contract with Radical Motorsports and commenced supplying tires in Europe, North America, the Middle East, and South Korea.

2017

  • The Hankook-Rhys Millen Racing Team secured second place in the 2017 Pikes Peak International Hill Climb.

2015

  • Commenced as the official and exclusive tire supplier for the 24H Series.

2014

  • The Hankook-Chris Forsberg Racing Team and Papadakis Racing Team secured first and second place respectively in the 2014 Formula Drift Pro Championship.

2013~2014

  • Commenced supplying tires for the FIA Junior World Rally Championship(JWRC).
  • Commenced as the official tire supplier for the FIA World Rally Championship(WRC).

2012

  • Commenced as the official and exclusive tire supplier for the Italian Superstars Series and the FIA Formula 3 (F3) Euro Series.
  • Secured second place in the Japanese Super GT GT300 class.

2011

  • Commenced as the official and exclusive tire supplier for the international touring car series, Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters(DTM).
  • The Hankook-Farnbacher Team secured first place in qualifying at the Nürburgring 24 Hours.

2010

  • The Hankook-Farnbacher Team claimed second place at both the Nürburgring 24 Hours and 24 Hours of Le Mans
  • Participated in IRC(Intercontinental Rally Challenge) event held in Scotland.

2009

  • The Hankook-KTR Team achieved a Pole-to-win victory in the Japanese Super GT GT300 class and secured a notable result at Suzuka.
  • Participated in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, one of the world’s most prestigious global endurance competition.

2005

  • Commenced participation in world-class motorsport events, including Germany's VLN series and the Nürburgring 24 Hours(2005-2009).
  • Participated in Japan's Super GT series(2005-2012).

2002

  • Commenced F3 Italy and F3 Germany as a sole tire supplier

2000

  • Officially entered international motorsports by participating in rally races in Greece and Italy.

1992

  • Developed Korea’s first motorsports tire, the Z2000, and began participating in Motorsports competitions.
