Hankook iON Race produces fast laps at Formula E test
The modified Hankook iON Race enjoyed a successful premiere at the official pre-season Formula E test at Circuito del Jarama in Madrid. From 5th to 8th November, the drivers and teams in the fully-electric world championship had the opportunity to prepare their cars meticulously for the new season, which kicks off on 7th December in São Paulo. The priority was to gain more experience with the optimised version of the Hankook iON Race. “The feedback from the teams and drivers has been extremely positive. The Hankook iON Race reaches its working window very quickly and delivers a consistently high performance,” says Hankook Motorsport Director Manfred Sandbichler. Florian Modlinger, project manager within the TAG Heuer Porsche Formula E Team, was very happy with the new tyre: “The tyre compound is softer than that of its predecessor. As a result, the performance is generally better.” New Zealand’s Mitch Evans, from the Jaguar TCS Racing team, took full advantage of the optimal grip and set the fastest lap of the 18-hour test. Another highlight at Circuito del Jarama was the first women-only test, in which the next generation of female motorsport stars got to drive the Gen3 Evo and familiarise themselves with the strengths of the Hankook iON Race. Britain’s Abbi Pulling from the Nissan Formula E Team set the fastest time.

Colnaghi wins twice in Barcelona to claim title in Spanish Formula 4 Championship
Italian Mattia Colnaghi was crowned champion of the Spanish Formula 4 Championship at the season finale, which took place from 8th to 10th November at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. The KCL MP Motorsport driver produced an impressive burst at the end of the season, bagging a brace of victories in Jerez, Spain, at the start of October, before repeating the feat in Barcelona. With support from the Hankook Ventus Race, the rookie managed to achieve his full potential on the track and end the season ahead of the experienced Keanu Al Azhari (United Arab Emirates) in second place. In the end, just ten points separated the two rivals, who provided plenty of excitement and drama for the fans, particularly at the final two events. Over the course of the year, more than 40 drivers put their faith in Hankook’s reliable premium tyre, which provided all the Formula 4 cars with optimal grip and a consistently high performance.

Sagrera clinches Eurocup-3 title in nail-biting finale in Barcelona
The final round of this season’s Eurocup-3 series, from 8th to 10th November at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya in Spain, was not for the faint-hearted. Christian Ho from Singapore and Spaniard Javier Sagrera produced a dramatic climax in the decisive final race of the championship. Ho, who won the race and set the fastest lap on the impressive Hankook Ventus Race, did all that he possibly could in his Formula racer. However, the Campos Racing driver also had to hope that his fiercest rival, Sagrera, could do no better than sixth place. Right down to the chequered flag, fans were on the edge of their seat watching a spectacular battle for fifth place between Sagrera and his compatriot Mari Boya. Nerves of steel and the high grip level provided by the Hankook tyres were the secret to Sagrera’s success, as he withstood the huge amount of pressure and successfully fended off Boya’s attacks. Fifth place was ultimately enough for the MP Motorsport racer to clinch the title in the competitive junior series by just two points.
