Since its founding in 1973, Rally de Portugal has been a fan-favorite with challenging gravel stages near Porto. Varying surfaces and unpredictable weather test the crews, while enthusiastic spectators gather in the tens of thousands. Sandy roads offer limited grip early on, but degrade to expose sharp rocks and ruts, requiring teams to adjust car ride height for the second pass. The rally has won multiple awards, including 'Best Rally in the World' five times. Markku Alén and Sébastien Ogier share the top spot with five victories each.
